Future Innovation

Shortly after the pandemic-induced lockdowns began last spring, MetaGeek shifted focus from providing tools for large Wi-Fi networks to supporting "work-from-home Wi-Fi." The first phase of this project was Rampart Home, released in August of last year. Rampart Home helps individuals working, schooling, or teaching remotely, visibility into their home network along with analysis and step-by-step instructions for improvements they can make to their home network.

The second phase, providing free access for teachers and students, was launched in November and provides 90 days free access to Rampart Home for anyone involved in virtual learning. Almost 1,000 people have joined the Rampart for Education program, from a technology administrator at Oakwood University to a parent in Slovakia and a middle school teacher in Traverse City.

We are now entering the third and final phase of our Rampart project, which is Rampart Business. The objective of Rampart Business is to provide company IT quick and easy visibility into WFH employees Wi-Fi networks so that IT Admins can provide support for everyone working from home.

Before the pandemic it was generally expected that remote workers would be responsible for their own network issues. With the massive shift to remote working for a large portion of the world's white collar jobs, more and more companies are realizing that supporting work-from-home will improve productivity and employee well-being. MetaGeek is excited to help companies improve home networks for their remote employees.

Here's a quick overview of how Rampart Business will work:

Unlike the Rampart Home tier, which is for individual users, the Business tier has role-based permissions for IT Admins, and Employees. The IT Admins can see network details for all Employees while Employees only have access to their own network.

After accepting the invitation to join the Rampart Business team, employees will create an account and be directed to download Rampart Agent. Rampart Agent will walk the Employee through doing a Wi-Fi Audit.

The Wi-Fi audit is automatically uploaded to Rampart for further analysis. Rampart will offer the user step-by-step instructions to fix common issues.

An IT Admin will then have a dashboard showing all Employees' network performance. Notice that the following "screenshot" is just a design; we're still implementing the IT Admin portion of Rampart Business. If an Employee's network is not performing very well, the IT Admin can view the network details for deeper analysis and personal support. There is also an option to download a file to view the Wi-Fi environment in inSSIDer.

Rampart Business is in early beta as the final parts are implemented. If you'd like to participate in the beta program and start using Rampart Business in your organization, please fill out the simple application form.
